EAT

1. Tiki Taco Clavel

“This restaurant had amazing food and felt very safe for allergens. They had a chart of the most common food allergens by the door and had symbols by menu items depicting the trouble areas. While I can’t speak for the safety protocols in terms of cross-contamination for other allergens, I felt such a sense of relief when I was told it was a nut-free kitchen. Phenomenal food, fun cocktails and above all else—a safe environment to enjoy!”

“This place was a must-visit for anyone with or without allergies. Super cool experience, as it it the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the world according to the Guinness world record book! Our waiter was super knowledgeable and helpful. The menu had many choices of simple grilled meats and fishes, which are always an easy go-to for me with my allergies. My dinner was safe and delicious. I can see why this place has been open for so long!”

TREAT

1. Chocolatería San Ginés

“Ladies and gentlemen, behold the gem of Madrid! Churros and hot chocolate is never an option for me on a typical trip abroad, but San Ginés made it possible. They don’t have nuts (aside from hazelnuts in 1 ice cream option—which isn’t even in the same building as the churros) or sesame in-house and have a very detailed allergen menu in various languages. The experience was truly liberating and I went back for a second time the same day I discovered them! They also have packs of their hot chocolate mix that you can purchase and take home. This helped me feel more calm so I could verify the ingredients myself. I felt incredibly safe here and the employees were very supportive. You MUST try San Ginés!”
