CALIFORNIA

Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
Location: Anaheim, California
“They have peanut-free beignets you can grab on the way into or out of the park as well as boxed mixes you can buy to take home and make. We have had a great experience with my son’s anaphylactic peanut and shellfish allergies, as well as my husband’s gluten intolerance. Let them know you have an allergy—often they will direct you to what is safe and will call a chef over if needed and possible such as in sit down restaurants.”

San Francisco Creamery
Location: Walnut Creek, California
“I got the beignets from here and they were absolutely delicious. For those I didn’t have a problem with my allergies. If you do have allergies just make sure you check with them if what you’re getting it’s safe, as some of their items may have nuts in them.”

Trenta Pizza & Cucina
Location: Costa Mesa, California
“Yum, yum, yum! The food is AMAZING and even though there’s a lot of nuts on the menu, they were super accommodating. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by. If you DON’T have a nut allergy, try the beignets.”

The Wild Chive
Location: Long Beach, California
“This is an all vegan comfort food spot with an amazing brunch! I got the Monte Cristo sandwich and was in heaven! Additionally, I ordered the beignets because I’ve never been able to safely have them and omg…LIFE CHANGING! You have to try them out. Fried to perfection and dusted in the dreamiest powder sugar coating. Highly recommend this fully vegan spot. The staff is extremely well-informed as well!”

Mint Julep Bar
Location: Anaheim, California
“I’ve only had these once during the holidays but I’m so In love with the big, fluffy peppermint beignets with chocolate dipping syrup in New Orleans Square in Disneyland! They are completely nut-free (no peanut oil) and pair nicely with New Orleans Mint Julep! Neither are overly sweet! Last, I checked 3 Mickey beignets cost $4.99. What a steal for park food!”

FLORIDA

Scat Cat’s Club
Location: Orlando, Florida
“Allergy-friendly beignets? Yes, please. The allergy-friendly beignets are safe for all top 8 allergens. They do contain corn. They are made with Bob’s Red Mill Pizza mix though, so you’ll need to assess whether you are comfortable with their allergy procedure. They are delicious, but are not Mickey-shaped like the normal ones and are also much more dense instead of light and airy. The only sauce safe for a dairy allergy was the strawberry sauce. The other two sauces had dairy.”

NEW YORK

Cookshop
Location: New York, New York
“We had a great brunch at Cookshop. The waiter started by asking if we had any dietary needs. Our daughter is peanut only and she was safely able to eat the beignets and cornmeal pancakes (huge treats!). There were quite a few dishes with tree nuts (FYI) but there were gluten-free options. The service was wonderful. We would recommend and return!”

WASHINGTON

Flying Apron – West Seattle
Location: Seattle, Washington
“For something sweet I visited Flying Apron in West Seattle! Flying Apron is gluten-free. It was nice to find more speciality treats like their beignets. Those are made only on Thursdays! I also picked up a chocolate scone and a chocolate brioche. There are a few savory items as well. I tried their tofu scramble for breakfast and also picked up a bag of bread rolls. The bakery has a local vibe and on a cute street with lots of thrift stores.”

Founding Farmers DC
Location: Washington, D.C.
“I’ve always had wonderful luck here for brunch. Prior to becoming allergic to dairy, I was able to safely eat the beignets. It is restaurant protocol that they do not modify pre-existing dishes as this can lead to error, but they will work with you to find a dish safe for your allergy set.”
