Dairy, Egg, Tree Nut, Sesame, Kiwi Fruit, and Shellfish-Free Greece and London Top Picks

Hi! I’m Grace, I live in Australia, and I’m currently traveling in Europe. I’m sharing some of my finds from Greece and London! I found many safe spots to eat while managing tree nut, dairy, egg, shellfish, sesame, and kiwi allergies and shared them on the Spokin app—all of my finds are also all featured in this guide. One of my favorites was Meltemi in Naxos, where I had one of the restaurant’s specialities, the Lamb in lemon-oregano! A fun thing to do if you are in London is to watch the plays and musicals-my favorites were Wicked and Mouse Trap (the longest running show)! “Eating ice cream out in Santorini was not on the cards for today, that was until I saw this sign!

This sign instantly stood out to me when I saw the 100% plant-based, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free labels.

I gave the staff my Greek Equal Eats card to communicate my allergies, and they were super helpful. They told me which flavors were safe for me and pointed out the two nut flavors to avoid.

The nut flavors were on the complete opposite side to the chocolate flavor I wanted, and they also used clean and separate scoops, so I felt comfortable trying!

This ice cream is olive oil-based and delicious. It was really rich and had a creamy, without the dairy, taste!”

“I stumbled upon a gem of a restaurant here in Naxos, Greece! I was immediately drawn to this restaurant because of their grilled meats section — my usual go-to restaurant safe meal is meat and salad.

I went in during a quiet afternoon to chat with the staff, and the owner came out right away to walk me through the entire menu and discuss my allergies in detail. I used my Greek Equal Eats card to explain my allergies, which was really helpful for the staff.

I came back early for dinner at 6 pm (super early by Greek standards!) so it’d be quieter and less busy. Not only did the owner recognize us, he also took our order personally, and listed every single ingredient in my dish. I felt so safe and so well cared for.

I enjoyed the most delicious lamb chops with roast potatoes and a salad! I also ended up trying one of their specialties: the lamb in lemon-oregano.

The staff explained it is like a lamb stew and thought I would like it, considering how much I like the lamb chops! Knowing my allergies, they also carefully walked me through every ingredient in the dish. Cannot recommend enough, I ate dinner here every single night of my stay!”

“I brought my own food as I wasn’t planning on eating out. So though I didn’t personally eat here, my partner, who is allergic to tree nuts and peanuts, did!

The staff asked if he had any allergies when he was ordering, and he informed them of his allergies. They confirmed that the dishes he ordered did not contain nuts, and they also added his allergies to the order so the staff would be aware.

When the food came out, we could see the nut allergies were added to his order on the receipt. They also had an allergen label on his food!”

Bread Ahead Bakery | Borough Market

“I saw a pop-up Bread Ahead at the Borough Market. They had really good allergy labelling on each of their products. Most products contained my allergies, however, I noticed them making some fresh focaccia and thought it might be ok.

When they brought it out, they brought out a sign with its allergens, and it was safe for my allergies! It was put next to the other products, but because it was just brought out, I could see it hadn’t touched anything else yet. So I ordered it straight away!

I double-checked with the staff that it didn’t contain my allergens, and they confirmed. I also asked if they could use clean tongs to pick it up, which they were happy to do. ”

“Niche has been on my list to try for a while now, so I was so excited to finally try it! It is completely gluten, tree nut, peanut, and sesame-free!

Their menu is also really well labelled for other allergies, so it made it quite easy to pick potential menu items. When I ordered, the staff took notes of my allergies and confirmed they would take extra care when making my meal so it would be safe.

I ordered focaccia bread and the chicken schnitzel with potatoes. It was INCREDIBLE! I absolutely loved it and I ended up going twice!”

“Had a great dining experience here! Their menu is completely gluten and dairy-free. They were also very attentive to other allergies.

I added my allergies to my booking, and the waiter brought it up as soon as we arrived and said they would be able to cater, which was so reassuring.

When we ordered, they added my allergies to the order and double-checked everything with the chef, who confirmed it would be safe.

I enjoyed the sourdough bread, pork for two and hand-cut chips. It was so incredibly delicious and I felt very well looked after!”

The Plough

“We enjoyed a delicious lunch here! The menu had great labelling, and they even had a QR code to their allergen guide! When ordering, I ordered at the counter and told the staff of my allergies. They gave me the iPad, which had the allergen guide for every dish. The dish I was looking at didn’t contain any allergens — I ordered the flat iron steak with fries and tomatoes.

I also asked the staff if the fries were fried in the same fryer as anything else, and they told me it was only the onion rings and sweet potato chips, both of which were ok for me.

The staff added my allergies to my order, and when my food came out, it had an allergy stick, which was so reassuring. It was delicious!”

“We went to a football game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and got tickets which included a hospitality package. Part of the package included food from a food package.

The meals were pre-set, so I wasn’t planning on eating anything, but did notice they had a QR code to an allergen guide, so I thought I’d have a look. There were a few options which didn’t actually contain my allergies, however, they had ‘may contains’, so I avoided the food.

Although there was one dish which was completely free of all my allergies and had no ‘may contains of’ my allergies either! I confirmed with the staff and safely tried this dish, which was a coconut and tonka bean mousse. It was so delicious and such a nice surprise to be able to enjoy something to eat!”

“Another great find at the Borough Market! Their products are all gluten-free, and they also had many vegan and dairy-free products.

All of their products were very clearly labelled with their allergens. I was drawn to the banana and chocolate chip slice, as it didn’t contain any of my allergies and was between products which also didn’t contain my allergies!

To confirm, I still told the staff my allergies, and they double-checked the allergen book to check all of the ingredients. It was so yum and amazing to see a stand have so many allergy-friendly products at these markets!”

“Walked past a little pop-up ice cream stand and decided to have a look. I was so excited to see they had no nut flavors at all in the stall!

They had both dairy and dairy-free options, and the dairy-free sorbets were separated from the dairy ice cream. They had a dairy-free scoop as well as a dairy ice cream scoop to avoid cross-contamination!

Seeing this, I felt safe to try some. I told the staff of my allergies, and they even gave me an allergen guide which showed the allergens in each flavor. I safely enjoyed the raspberry sorbet!”

Nando's Covent Garden

Nando’s Covent Garden

Location: London, United Kingdom

“Always such an amazing experience at Nando’s! Went here straight off the plane for lunch. The staff asked if we had any allergies before we even sat down. They said to order at the till so they could take notes of my allergies. Their menu is really helpful, and they also have an allergen guide online.

When I ordered at the counter, the staff took note of all of my allergies in the order and confirmed the meal was safe. They showed me all of the ingredients of each menu item I ordered on the iPad! When the food came out, it also had an allergy stick on it, which was so reassuring!

I preferred the chicken, chips, corn (no butter) and garlic bread!”
