Christina’s Gluten-Free New York City Favorites

Hi! My name is Christina, and I’m so excited to share my favorite New York City spots for celiac. For classic NYC food, I’d go for a toasted everything bagel from Modern Bread and Bagel. For something sweet, Senza Gluten is a must-visit for their tiramisu. For some fun shopping, I’d visit Chelsea Market. There you can stop by Friedman’s, their menu can almost be made entirely gluten-free. You can also try Kimbap Lab for Korean food and then end with a walk along the High Line! In that same area is The Whitney Museum if you are looking for something else to explore! Follow me on Spokin @gflivingbk to see all my gluten-free reviews and on Insta @glutenfreelivingbk

Everybody Eats

“Everybody Eats is one of my favorite gluten free bakeries. They were a life saver when I was first diagnosed with celiac disease. They baked delicious fresh baked breads, cookies, and more! I have their cinnamon buns in my freezer now can’t wait to try! The bakery is also nut free. They do not have a store front but you can visit in person or order online. Located in Brooklyn! “

Claro

“Claro is a 100% gluten free Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn. So far I’ve only done take out but hope to visit in person! Gluten free churros, need I say more!

Update! Finally had the chance to visit in person! Claro is an amazing gluten free restaurant, perfect for date night. It is definitely a splurge but worth it. You can choose from a four course prefix menu. My favorite was the yellow tail tuna. “

Sixteen Mill Bakeshop

“Sixteen mill is Brooklyn’s newest 100% gluten free bakery! They are also vegan. Talia, the owner, originally sold her products at local farmers markets and now has her own store front! Everything is super delicious. I tried her babka muffins and foccacia bread. I didn’t even need to toast the bread, which I usually do with gluten free bread. “

Wild Park Slope

Wild Park Slope

“Wild is 100% gluten free. There is a location in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The menu is Italian with mainly pasta and pizza options. I tried the ravioli and the pizza. I would say try their ravioli! The pizza crust didn’t seem to be cooked all the way but it was a to go order. But still when a restaurant is fully gluten free it’s nice to eat safely.”

Another plus is that they are a few blocks away from Senza Gluten, so you can hit up both gluten free spots in one day! “

The kitchen is in a shared space but Kimbap Lab uses its own cookware and utensils! “

They also can make delicious looking sundaes. Stop by for a sweet treat after a gluten free lunch at their restaurant on the corner. Visiting No Glu is like a trip to Paris!”

Friedman’s

“Friedman’s restaurant offers a gluten free menu with many locations in NYC. When the owner, who has celiac disease, originally opened the restaurant she wanted to create a safe place for people with celiac to eat and enjoy delicious food. When I visited the location in herald square I asked about the menu and they said everything is gluten free except for one of their soups. I told the server I had celiac and my food came out with an allergy flag as well. I order the chicken and waffles! There are so many yummy options like chicken wings, sandwiches, pancakes, and more! “
