Inklings
Location: Pleasanton, California
“This is a super cute & trendy coffee shop in Downtown Pleasanton! It’s a super popular study spot, and they host a lot of community events here! I have never gotten coffee here (they have regular milk, oat, almond, and coconut) because the coffee area is pretty small. They also have pastries but most have nuts. BUT they now carry baked goods from Sweet Freedom Bakeshop! Sweet Freedom is an online order-only bakery that makes goods free from peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, soy, and gluten. Note, they do use some sprinkles that contain soy lecithin & honey in one cupcake (so not 100% ethically vegan), but the owner’s family has celiac, nut, and egg allergies, so they are totally allergy aware! On their website, they even list that if you have any additional allergies, need to sub an ingredient or need anything adjusted, call them, and they will make a safe treat for you! They have made cakes & cupcakes for my birthdays the last several years, and they are FABULOUS! The treats at Inklings are wrapped and have their own display case to avoid cross contact with other pastries! Totally hope they get a store front soon!”

Georgia

Argentis
Location: Alpharetta, Georgia
“One of the BEST bakeries in Georgia! I have been going to this bakery for about three years now and I have never had a bad experience. The bakery has a notebook that breaks down and lists all the ingredients in their baked goods. One of my favorite things about the bakery is they have food items that you can also order and take home AND they do customized cakes. I have been ordering my birthday cake from them the past two years and they always come out looking just as I imagined them to be. 100% recommending this bakery as the staff are incredible and inclusive!”

Location: Bellmore, New York
“I go here usually to get my birthday cake during the year, because not only are the chocolate cakes so good there, but I know I’ll be able to leave there without having any allergic reactions. The only allergen they use is soy and they also use oats in some cakes. They also have vegan snacks too. The waitstaff is so nice and helpful. Will definitely go back. If you’re wheat, gluten, dairy, or nut-free, definitely check this place out! “

Milk Bar
Location: New York, New York
“I ordered a gluten-free cake for my husband’s birthday and it was fantastic! Protocols for gluten-free cakes are on their website and sound celiac safe to me (separate bakery).
I called to learn about their protocols around nuts and the staff was not very helpful. But I also sent an email and got a more educated reply. They have nuts in the gluten-free facility, but clean everything in between batches. Be cautious with severe nut allergies, especially as they have a gluten-free peanut pie too. Peanuts are okay for me, so I went ahead and ordered the cake. Didn’t have any issues and it tasted fantastic!”

“This is a DEDICATED GLUTEN-FREE establishment and they are well informed about general food allergy procedures, they have many items on the menu that are accommodating to nut and dairy allergies — there is truly something for everyone!
I celebrated my birthday here and was given the most delicious orange almond custard cake – I usually am not a big cake person, but it was so moist, fluffy, and also light while not overpoweringly sweet. Can’t recommend them enough especially if you have Celiac Disease!”

Awesome Bites Co.
Location: Houston, Texas
“Update: They have been amazing at still providing safe treats during quarantine! They are dedicated free from peanuts, tree nuts (except coconut), soy, dairy, & egg, and the very few products with wheat/gluten are made in a separate kitchen! Each day of the week is dedicated to a specific baked good (my favorite is Donut Wednesday) and they offer about 3 rotating flavors each week that you can either preorder in advance or pick up in store the day of! They also still have scooped ice cream in the store and toppings, but they are no longer doing ice cream samples. You can also still order n’ice cream cakes, cookie cakes, & pints of ice cream to go!
Awesome Bites Co. was my first ever cookie cake! My boyfriend found this bakery and ordered me a cookie cake for my 20th birthday! The bakery was founded by a food allergy mom and is dedicated free from dairy, egg, soy, peanuts and tree nuts! Almost everything is gluten-free (they have cross contact protocols to separate wheat-containing products!) I didn’t know this until we picked up the cake, but they also have homemade scooped Top 8 free ice cream in store! There were some super cool flavors like Suntella (made in store chocolate sunflower butter) and GF cookies and creme, and they have gluten-free cones and allergy-friendly toppings! (we’re going back tomorrow for ice cream) The cookie cake was delicious and made my birthday so special!”

Nuflours Bakery
Location: Seattle, Washington
“Nuflours is my favorite dedicated gluten-free bakery in Seattle. They never use peanuts and use only select tree nuts. They make their items in shifts, so I only eat their products if I know they haven’t made anything with hazelnuts that day! I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls, danishes, and quiches.
