Bella’s Top Allergy-Friendly Asian Food Picks

Hi! I’m Bella and 恭喜發財! 새해 복 많이 받으세요! Chúc mừng năm mới!  In honor of Lunar New Year I’m excited to share some of my favorite Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese restaurants across the US, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the U.K., where I’ve safely eaten with my severe allergies to peanuts and several tree nuts (including walnuts and pecans, though I typically avoid all nuts to be safe). This guide features so many wonderful, homey spots offering both traditional and fusion dishes, but in the spirit of a holiday centered around connection and community, I especially want to highlight Oakland, California’s Monster Phở, not only for their generously portioned, delicious nut-free menu but their ongoing commitment to uplifting Bay Area families and public servants through donation programs, community celebrations, and free or discounted meals for those in need throughout the year! California

Dumpling Bites

Location: San Francisco, California

“Amazing Shanghainese restaurant. Super allergen aware (only one menu item with nuts). Love their stir fried rice cakes and hot soy milk!”

Koi Palace

Koi Palace

Location: Daly City, California

“Long-time and loyal customers. We have safely eaten here millions of times and love their dim sum options, as well as their dinners. I really like their durian puffs (lunch dessert) and their bean sprouts, whisk steamed fish, sweet and sour anything!, coffee ribs, and soy sauce chicken (dinner) which comes with really delicious sweet soybeans underneath. Great safe Cantonese spot.
It’s also now a chain, so be sure to stop by in Fisherman’s Wharf or the airport for a quick fix “

Mamahuhu

“Incredible Chinese-American chain! Completely peanut/peanut oil free. The only tree nuts they use right now are cashews. Love that they have an allergen matrix and a website tab about where they source their local, organic and preservative free ingredients!

The eggplant tofu is my favorite at the moment, but the mapo tofu is also soooo comforting. Heard super great things about their crispy chicken and cauliflower. Great portions. Reasonable prices and surprisingly good boba.

That great wok flavor you want definitely varies from branch to branch—I’ve found the one on Clement to be the best so far but still amazing all around. Plus they have a really cool Monday social mahjong program at each branch and a history of supporting local AAPI artists.”

Monster Pho

Monster Phở

Location: San Francisco, California

“One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Completely nut-free (except for coconuts)! The most delicious, homey pho with the warmest staff. Love that they regularly have community giveback programs as well.”

Tofu Plus Korean BBQ

Tofu Plus Korean BBQ

Location: Cupertino, California

“My favorite Korean restaurant in the Bay! No peanuts, tree nuts, or nut oils.”

Disneyland Park

Disneyland Park

Location: Anaheim, California

“For the 2026 Lunar New Year celebration in California Adventure: Was super excited to see the parks highlight Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean cultures for the Lunar New Year festival and loved their inclusion of fusion foods/their take on popular classics! The Sip & Savor pass, which gives you 6 stamps for food/nonalcoholic beverages for $42 (2026, nonmember) was also a great deal to save some money and try multiple things- even though they say the foods are taster/sample size, we found them to be decently portioned and quite filling. For us, one pass per person was enough to fill a full day of eating/snacking (not including normal coffee/tea/water—hot water is free at most stalls/cafes that serve coffee/tea). Each booth also included an allergy guide- I just wish that that included specific tree nuts (but staff members were extremely helpful- calling the chefs if they didn’t know) and was also printed on the map or included in the app so you can plan ahead/mobile order. Without a map/app info, you do have to wait in the longer standby queues to ask for more info. We found the lines to move pretty quickly though. Highlights: a very authentic japchae and safe sweets! With a peanut and some tree nut allergies, it can be pretty rare to find 100% safe desserts, so I was super stoked to find the mandarin orange cream puff and the strawberry milk tea macaron (almond only). The puff had a great taste but unfortunately slightly soggy texture. The macaron was very cute but the cream was too sweet for me.”

Dragon Beaux

Dragon Beaux

Location: San Francisco, California

“Feel much safer eating their dim sum than going to their dinner hot pot. They have amazing baos and seafood dumplings. Everything is clearly labeled but be sure to double check if you order mixed ingredient dumplings or sponge cakes.”

Massachusetts

Kaju Korean Cuisine — Kenmore

Kaju Korean Cuisine—Kenmore

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

“Kaju (chain) is not my favorite Korean restaurant HOWEVER they are extremely allergy friendly. No peanuts in the restaurant. Just be careful with the condiments (not sure if they make them in-house or outsource) and the tofu soup, I found a chestnut in mine. Luckily my chestnut allergy is not severe but it was definitely an unwelcome surprise.”

Germany

Hong Kong Dim 香港店

Hong Kong Dim 香港店

Location: Cologne, Germany

“Wonderful family-owned spot near the Hansaring station. Staff was very knowledgeable about allergies and the food was pretty decent. Do note that it is on the pricier side though for lunch.”

Manifesto Market

Location: Berlin, Germany

“Writing for the Chi Kin Korean Fried Chicken stall on the top floor, right of the restrooms, @chikin.berlin on Instagram.

Extremely delicious fried chicken bowls and veggie bowls. They also now have Lunar New Year menu items! Super allergen aware—they even took the time to go to the back to bring out the oils and sauces for me to see for myself.”

Hong Kong

The Lobby Lounge at Regent Hong Kong

The Lobby Lounge at Regent Hong Kong

Location: Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

“After a bit of allergy anxiety about changed menus/protocols at various local eateries, decided to pop into the Regent hotel (twice) to see if they might be able to accommodate. Located right off the avenue of stars by the cultural center and space museum, the lounge provides both Western and Hong Kong classics. While pricey, they were incredibly allergen aware—had really great pho and a lobster roll.”

Crystal Lotus

Location: Lantau Island, Hong Kong

“Anaphylactic to all nuts at the time of this review (2019): Located just outside HK Disneyland, the Crystal Lotus was very allergen aware and had a really adorable take on dim sum classics, with baos in the shape of aliens, Olaf, and of course Mickey & Minnie and taro paste and mango pudding shaped like Mickey. Albeit gimmicky, the food was decent and we definitely had a great time, especially the kids.”

樂天皇朝Paradise Dynasty

Location: Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

“Anaphylactic to all nuts at the time of this review. Went to this beautiful more upscale Shanghainese restaurant located by the Lee Theatre. Had a delicious assortment of xiaolongbao style dumplings and some spicy soup and cold meats.”

Singapore

Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes

Location: Singapore, Singapore

“After a difficult search for a safe bakery for a birthday cake, we came across Delcie’s, a bakery dedicated to providing healthier versions of Asian and western sweets with gluten-free, nut-free, and diabetic-friendly options. While the kitchen isn’t completely allergen-free, they do have the option to request separate processing which made me feel a billion times safer.”

Din Tai Fung

Location: Singapore, Singapore

“Another consistent safe bet around the world, although they do now have a few dishes with peanuts, they were very clear which dishes were and were not safe/had risk of cross contamination. Safely had xiaolongbaos and veggies “

United Kingdom

Bao Spot

Location: London, United Kingdom

“Cute little spot toward the edge of Chinatown by the Theatre District. We had the chicken, pork, veggie, and sweet egg custard, as well as their crispy pork. Their best bao was the pork bao. Really great spot—very allergy aware too! No peanuts except for one chicken dish. Super affordable too.”
