“Fully vegan spot in Osaka that sells fruit sandos—my sister and I had that on our list of things to try! All the desserts in the case had allergy icons.”

トイチパンケーキ toichipancake 北堀江店
“Was able to present my allergy cards and staff were able to let me know if my order was safe. The pancakes were delicious and the latte art was one of the highlights of my day. A few nut items on the menu, however, prep area appeared clean.”

Ichiran Ramen Shinsaibashi
“Allergens listed clearly on menu, except the almond isn’t identified despite there being an almond cake type of dessert. However, did not find this to be an issue.”

Genji-soba
“Loved eating at this traditional soba restaurant in Osaka and was really happy to see vegan options. They said they don’t use any nuts or dairy. They also have a note about celiac-safe protocol for gluten-free requests, which was cool!”

Kobe Beef “Steakhouse Kozai”
“This was around CA $90 per person by reservation only, but it was one of our favorite meals of the whole trip! It was a set menu that the chef prepared right in front of us, including corn soup, smoked duck, salad, wagyu beef, seafood, and garlic fried rice. He understood my allergy card, and I was also able to include my allergies when making the reservation.”

Nihonshu Unagidani
“We stumbled into this adorable izakaya in Osaka one night and they confirmed it was safe to eat (asked if sesame and wasabi were okay). I had 5 piece chef’s choice omakase and some fatty tuna rolls, which the chef prepared in front of us at the bar. So good!”

Gyozaoh! Dotonbori
“The vibe here was mainly tourists, with allergens clearly indicated on the English menu. They had no nuts in the restaurant either, so it was a very safe choice (didn’t need to show my card). Food did not disappoint, I enjoyed an order of gyoza and chicken karaage as well!”
