Gar Woods Grill & Pier

Location: Carnelian Bay, California

“One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had! When I ordered, I let our server know of my allergies, and he assured me that they have a strict allergy protocol and a dedicated prep area. My meal was prepared by a different chef and brought out separately by a different waiter as the ‘peanut allergy’ meal! The staff was so nice, and the meal was absolutely delicious! I have been there twice and had the scallop risotto and the roasted chicken plate, and both were fabulous! Would highly recommend for those with allergies!”

Fireside Pizza Company

Location: Olympic Valley, California

“Updating this review because it’s been 5 years since I’ve eaten here! They are arguably the most allergy-aware spot in Tahoe! They have pine nuts, pecans, and walnuts in some of the salads and desserts, but they are always so accommodating at making sure allergy meals are prepared to avoid any cross-contact. All their pizza dough (both gluten & gluten-free) is made off-site, so they always let me know that there could be potential cross-contact with nuts. I always get one of their pasta dishes with gluten-free pasta and they’re all so good! Highly recommend the gouda mac ‘n cheese! Anytime I order something gluten-free, they always ask if I have celiac which is amazing how allergy-aware they are!”

Kalani’s

Location: South Lake Tahoe, California

“This was one of my favorite restaurant finds of the year! It’s a Hawaiian restaurant in South Lake Tahoe (near Heavenly Ski Resort) with such delicious food! They have everything from fish to land entrees, sushi rolls, apps, fun drinks, and super cool desserts! There are a few things with almonds and macadamia nuts, but no peanuts and the staff was very helpful with explaining the allergens/ingredients in each dish. There are a lot of gluten-free options, and they are all labeled on the menu. I got a California roll (their imitation crab is gluten-free) and the halibut with risotto which was so good! They also have amazing mocktails and lemonades.”

California Burger Company

Location: South Lake Tahoe, California

“Completely peanut and tree nut-free restaurant with a dedicated gluten-free grill and fryer! Their gluten-free burger buns are also the best I’ve ever had! Everyone working was super educated about food allergies and wrote down gluten allergy on my takeout order! I had the Caprese burger and sweet potato tots which were both so good! Highly recommend visiting if you’re skiing at Heavenly or in South Lake Tahoe!”

Blue Dog Pizza Tahoe Stateline

Location: South Lake Tahoe, California

“Completely nut-free pizza place in South Lake Tahoe! When we called to order takeout, they were so nice and read through all the ingredients in the pesto to confirm it was nut-free! I ended up getting the BBQ chicken pizza which was SO GOOD and got it on the gluten-free crust (which is also vegan)! They wrote down gluten allergy on my takeout order and said they would change gloves & use precautions! The pizza was safe & seriously one of the best I’ve had!”

Rubicon Pizza

Location: Truckee, California

“They have gluten-free pizza and are super knowledgeable about gluten-free options and food allergies! The only nuts are pecans in one salad. Definitely get reservations on the weekend because they get quite busy (especially in the summer and during peak ski season).”

Truckee Tavern & Grill

Location: Truckee, California

“Absolutely delicious food. My family and I all had the steaks and they were juicy, meaty, and tasty. This place got voted best steak in northern Lake Tahoe! Our server was fantastic and pointed out any dishes with my allergens.”

Truckee Food Shop

Old Town Tap

Location: Truckee, California

“Went for dinner last night. Our server was absolutely fantastic, knew the menu very well and I told her about my pistachio allergy (as I saw they used a lot of pistachios on their menu). She was accommodating when my sister ordered a dish with pistachios and she asked if I would like them to remove the nuts. Overall great experience and great food! This is my second time here.”

Zano’s Family Italian & Pizzeria

Location: Truckee, California

“Some of the best gluten-free pizza I have ever had! This is a family-owned Italian restaurant with pizza, pasta, and apps, and everything is so good! The only nut in the kitchen is pine nuts which are offered as a topping on pizzas and in one salad. I felt extremely comfortable, and they were very knowledgeable about food allergies. They have gluten-free crust and will take precautions to prevent cross-contact; however, they did note that all the pizzas are prepped in the same area, so this is definitely something to keep in mind if you are highly sensitive. I loved their gluten-free crust!”
