ARIZONA

Steak 44

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

“The most expensive steak I’ve ever had but the best fancy date night! The servers are incredibly knowledgeable about what main course and side options are gluten free. I had a steak with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. They will even talk to the chef for you. Free dessert on your birthday! Not a ton of dessert options are gluten free but they can always do ice cream.”

Roka Akor

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

“We love Roka Akor. This is one of our favorite places to go. They have limited nuts on the menu and no peanuts (I don’t believe). They also have a lot of non-dairy and non-egg options. When we are concerned about something here they always double check for us and leave nothing to chance. The food is amazing too!”

@foodallergydiva, who manages milk and mustard allergies

Houston’s

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

“We recently got take out from here, and were amazed how careful they were and well they responded to our allergen requests. When we asked about certain menu items they gave us options on how they could prepare it differently for us (i.e. without butter and what oil choices they had). They made sure to use separate utensils to prepare our food, and the food here is amazing as well! Note: they don’t have a dedicated prep area here so cross-contamination while minimized with utensils, new gloves, etc., could still be an issue for some.”

@foodallergydiva, who manages milk and mustard allergies

The Capital Grille

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

“We recently got take out from here, and were amazed how careful they were and well they responded to our allergen requests. When we asked about mustard, they went and checked what items were cooked on the same surfaces, etc to let us know if cross contamination was possible. They told us what items had dairy (and butter without being asked). They made sure to use separate utensils to prepare our food and packaged everything in a separate area! We were very impressed, and had no problems with our delicious meal!”

CALIFORNIA

Bello by Sandro Nardone

Location: Newport Beach, California

“When I discovered this restaurant, I went there at least 4 times in 10 days. The food is delicious and authentic. The Michelin star chef is always there and makes sure every dish comes out perfectly. Both children can eat safely, but let them know before hand that way they can prepare!”

@dsarsour, who manages tree nut, flax, mustard, sesame, peach, and quinoa allergies

Duke’s Huntington Beach

Location: Huntington Beach, California

“Duke’s has lots of nuts on the menu (they are known for their macadamia nuts), but I have eaten safely here multiple times and at different locations! The chef came out and spoke to me and explained he would make all components of the dish himself in a separate area of the kitchen. I got steak, mashed potatoes and cooked veggies, and the chef came back to check in and explain he would make the mashed potatoes from scratch specifically for me to avoid any cross contamination that may have occurred from the already cooked pot in the kitchen!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, and celiac-gluten allergies

Caffe Allegro

Location: La Verne, California

“Ate here with my boyfriend for our 1 year anniversary dinner! I called ahead and when we checked in for our reservation they already had my peanut and gluten allergies listed. We were seated, and when our waitress arrived at our table for drinks, I mentioned my allergies, and she said “Thank you so much for letting me know. The hostess already made me aware that I was serving someone with a severe peanut allergy!” Thought this was so cool! I ordered the spaghetti bolognese with gluten free pasta, and she showed me on the order how she wrote “Severe peanut allergy!!!!! Use separate pans – no cross contact!!!!” in bold letters with lots of exclamation points. Our food was so delicious and safe!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, and celiac-gluten allergies

Pacific Catch

Location: Dublin, California

“Had such a great experience here! I read online that their menu is nut-free – the waiter wasn’t 100% confident in this, but I didn’t see anything on the menu with nuts and was able to order anything! I think the confusion was that they occasionally have specials with macadamia nuts, but there was nothing listed on the menu currently containing nuts! They have a separate gluten-free menu that they will bring to the table if you ask which was super helpful because the main menu wasn’t super clear about gluten free options. I let our waiter know of my allergies and shared the gluten-free chips and guac and two of their gluten-free sushi rolls! They also brought over gluten-free soy sauce!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, and celiac-gluten allergies

Baci Bistro and Bar

Location: Pleasanton, California

“This is a fancy Italian restaurant in Downtown Pleasanton! They have gluten-free pasta and are pretty knowledgable about gluten-free options on the menu. They have some tree nuts on the menu (mainly almonds and walnuts) in several of the entrees and salads. I told our waiter my allergies, and he wrote them down to inform the kitchen. I wouldn’t say they were extremely allergy aware, but I ate there safely and would definitely go back!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, wheat, and celiac-gluten allergies

13 Prime Steak

Location: Clovis, California

“Delicious! The entire staff is informed about the allergies front the time you make the reservations.”

@dsarsour, who manages tree nut, flax, mustard, sesame, peach, and quinoa allergies

Duke’s La Jolla

Location: San Diego, California

“Found this recommendation on Spokin and decided to give it a try on my trip to San Diego! Very accommodating and knowledgeable staff. Limited options due to my shellfish allergies, but I enjoyed the prime sirloin. My food arrived with an allergy label, too!”

@alyssabauder, who manages a peanut allergy

CUT by Wolfgang Puck

“This is by far probably the best steakhouse I have been to. Cut just received a Michelin Star for their amazing food. The server and chef made sure everything that the boys ate was free of all their allergens.”

@dsarsour, who manages tree nut, flax, mustard, sesame, peach, and quinoa allergies

Patxi’s Pizza Hayes Valley

Location: San Francisco, California

“LOVE Patxi’s Pizza! I always double check with the staff but have been told that there are no nuts in the restaurant (even in the pesto!) They have an allergy menu online and are super consistent across all the Bay Area locations I have visited! They have gluten-free crust and dairy-free cheese and will take precautions to avoid cross-contact with gluten! Their food is also so good! I am obsessed with the prosciutto and arugula pizza!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, wheat, and celiac-gluten allergies

Oasis Restaurant & Wine Lounge

Location: Pleasanton, California

“Amazing Mediterranean food in Downtown Pleasanton! This is a pretty fancy restaurant and great for birthday parties, date nights, etc! They also have a bar. There are GF symbols on the menu so it’s super easy to know what’s gluten-free. For nuts, there are no peanuts and only pine nuts in some dishes, almonds in one pasta, and pecans on one salad. Staff are very knowledgeable about which dishes contain nuts/allergens and come back to the table to let you know they checked with the kitchen! I love getting the butternut squash appetizer and the chicken kabob plate!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, wheat, and celiac-gluten allergies

Twenty Eight Restaurant and Bar

Location: Irvine, California

“Delicious food and great service. They were super accommodating and if you don’t see something on the menu just ask and they will try to make it for you!”

@dsarsour, who manages tree nut, flax, mustard, sesame, peach, and quinoa allergies

Nueva

Location: Marina del Rey, California

“I love this place! The vibe, drinks, and bar next door (The Little Friend) are AMAZING! I’ve ordered the vegan ceviche, many drinks, and the chips and salsa and loved it all! They were great with my allergies and have lots of options for nut and gluten allergies as well!”

@jennatso8, who manages milk, egg, beef, and pork allergies

Pura Vita

Location: West Hollywood, California

“This is an amazing vegan Italian restaurant that offers many gluten-free options! The menu is very clear and all the food is so delicious! I got the carbonara and loved it! This was my first real Italian restaurant experience because of my dairy allergy and they made me feel so safe! The restaurant also has great ambiance and is perfect for date night!”

@jennatso8, who manages milk, egg, beef, and pork allergies

Caruso’s

Location: Montecito, California

“The view was extraordinary! Right on the water. Definitely a special occasion spot. They asked if we had allergies and seemed to be on top of it but there were some nuts on the menu (pesto in a gnocchi, pistachio creme brûlée) but plenty of pizza and pasta besides the main course. Fancy!”

@susie, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

The Meat Cellar

Location: Claremont, California

“One of my favorite restaurants at college for date nights or fancier dinners! They have great steaks, veggies, sides, and super fun drinks! They also have no peanuts in the whole restaurant! They have hazelnuts, walnuts, and almonds that garnish some of the salads and cooked veggies, but according to wait staff all the nuts go on very last in a separate part of the kitchen, so there is very little chance of cross contamination in the cooking process. I had the steak tenderloin with mixed greens which was delicious and safe!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, wheat, and celiac-gluten allergies

Oceans & Earth Restaurant

Location: Yorba Linda, California

“This is a 100% dedicated gluten-free restaurant! When I inquired about my nut allergies, the chef told me they don’t use any peanuts or tree nuts in the kitchen! I was a little hesitant at first (I have never come across a restaurant free of gluten AND nuts), but our waitress was so kind and answered all my allergy questions! Everything on the menu is baked/made from scratch in house: the gluten-free brioche buns, pizza crusts, cookies, and desserts, so there is no chance of cross-contact with nuts! They even make their own ice cream! I was able to safely have any dessert on the menu, which has never happened before at a restaurant!”

@emsnutfreeeats, who manages peanut, tree nut, wheat, and celiac-gluten allergies

FLORIDA

Nobu Miami

Location: Miami Beach, Florida

“I had an absolutely AMAZING time at Nobu Miami! Our waiter Mauricio asked about allergies when we first sat down, and off the top of his head was able to recommend multiple meals that worked for me/could be adjusted for me. I went with what I knew was safe, and he had my allergens memorized and made sure that I stayed safe and comfortable the entire time! He even replaced the soy sauce on our table with tamari as soon as he knew I couldn’t have wheat. The quality of the food was superb and the atmosphere was incredible. They had multiple vegan wine options and the Prosecco I went with was incredible!”

They don’t have a ton of gluten free options because they now have a limited menu (no gluten free pasta anymore), but they do have gluten free bread for burgers & sandwiches. “I have eaten at the Ruth’s Chris in numerous branches and have had excellent service in every location. The staff are knowledgeable, take allergies very seriously and I felt confident eating there even though they have nuts in the kitchen. Their filet mignon is juicy, tender and packed with flavor.”

il Canale

Location: Washington, D.C.

“This is a super cute authentic Italian restaurant in Georgetown that accommodated my allergies safely during the pandemic. They do have a warning on their menu that they can not guarantee cross-contact if you have food allergies or celiac; however, I knew this going in and felt comfortable because of the other positive Spokin reviews! I was told there was only one pizza with pistachios on the menu, and while there were other nuts in the desserts, those are all made in a separate kitchen!”

The Smith

Location: Washington, D.C.

“The Smith is so consistent and knowledgeable about food allergies! I let the server know about my nut and gluten allergies and ordered gluten-free pasta with tomatoes and corn. Other people in our group ordered appetizers, and even though I was planning on not eating them, all the dishes came with allergy flags! I was so impressed! The menu doesn’t have too many nuts on it and while they’re aren’t extensive gluten-free options, they do have gluten free pasta and most of the entrees and salads can be made gluten free! So happy I tried the Smith and absolutely love that all the locations use red allergy flags!”

GERMANY

Aromi e Sapori – Restaurant & Weinbar

Location: Berlin, Germany

“This is a gem of a restaurant in Berlin. Don’t mind the head waiter he is always a little short but does take care of you—it’s just his personality. If you are lucky enough to visit in the summer, it has fabulous outdoor seating.”

Risotteria Melotti Roma

Location: Rome, Italy

“It was incredible to be able to eat everything on the menu in Rome! We ended up coming here twice and sharing everything between 4 of us. Every single dish was outrageously delicious!”
