Alyssa’s Favorite Nut-Friendly Chicago Spots

Hi! I’m Alyssa and I’m excited to show off my favorite spots in Chicago, Illinois! I have found many safe places to eat in the area while managing my peanut allergy. One of my favorite places to eat is Ramen San where I get the chicken gyoza. And for a sweet treat, check out Del Sur Bakery where I’d recommend the ube oatmeal cream pie. Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio

Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“We originally found Monteverde from Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix, and we’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences ever since! Our waiters have been exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, asking about allergies before I even have a chance to say anything myself. This is our favorite special occasion spot – If we can get a reservation! The Burrata e Ham is next level.”

Aba

Aba

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Such a beautiful restaurant with incredible food! Despite having quite a few dishes with tree nuts (pistachio) on the menu, our waiter assured us that Aba does not use any peanuts in the kitchen. Regardless, the runners brought every item out with an allergy indicator and stated ‘This is safe to eat with a peanut allergy. I was truly impressed with their care, caution, and attention to detail. But get on the waitlist soon… It took us a few months to get a reservation!”

RAMEN-SAN Whisky Bar

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“We love Ramen San! Not only is the menu 100% NUT FREE, the atmosphere/vibe is also so much fun. My go-to is the Chicken Gyoza with a Yuzu Margarita!”

Robert's Pizza and Dough Company

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Chicago’s hidden gem, if you ask me. Robert’s is our favorite spots for waterfront dining! We love to make an afternoon out of it and walk along the lakefront to get here. Robert’s has limited nuts on the menu and you can easily reserve patio seating! Great drinks and great food.”

Au Cheval

Au Cheval

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Worth the wait! Our favorite burger in the city. When I told the waiter I have a peanut allergy, he said “You came to the right restaurant.” The Hogsalt restaurant group is great with allergies and generally have few to no nuts on their menus!”

3 Arts Club Cafe

3 Arts Club Cafe

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“I cannot say enough good things about Restoration Hardware and 3 Arts Club Cafe! This is one of my favorite spots to take friends and family that are in town visiting because the restaurant is so gorgeous and the food always impresses! Every time I’ve dined here (10+), the staff has been excellent at accommodating my allergies and helping me feel safe dining with them. The Shaved Ribeye with a side of Truffle Fries… 10/10 would recommend.”

LÝRA

LÝRA

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“We are Lyra’s biggest fans! Their Slow-Roasted Lamb Gyros with a Hades Spicy Margarita with Bougatsa for dessert is truly my dream meal. And because they do not have peanuts in their kitchen, we often order takeout from here too!

My favorite restaurant in the city right now! This authentic greek spot in Fulton Market just opened in January, and their staff is deliberately trained to ask about allergies while taking orders. No apparent peanuts on the menu + absolutely phenomenal food!”

Beatrix

Beatrix

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Very rarely do I willingly agree to dine at places that have peanuts in the kitchen, but I make an exception for Beatrix! They have an excellent multi-step protocol for managing allergies that has always helped me feel comfortable and confident eating there. It’s a perfect, fresh option for a nice brunch with friends!”

Piccolo Sogno

Piccolo Sogno

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Piccolo Sogno is Spokin Verified… Need I say more?! The Spokin logo is even proudly displayed in their entranceway. The best is when you can score a table on their back patio!”

Treat

Del Sur Bakery

Del Sur Bakery

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“The head pastry chef of this new Filipino bakery lost his childhood best friend to an allergic reaction and Del Sur is nut-free in her honor. We waited in line for almost two hours to get our hands on some of their artisanal pastries – But it was so worth it. Our favorite was the Ube Oatmeal Creme Pie!”

Do-Rite Donuts & Coffee

Do-Rite Donuts & Coffee

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“While Do-Rite Donuts has a pistachio donut on their menu, there are no peanut products! This is my husband and I’s go-to spot for donuts in the city.”

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Have had nothing but knowledgeable and gracious staff at this location! Every single time they are happy to do an “allergy scoop” for me. They wash their hands, use a fresh scooper, and open a fresh bin of ice cream. I won’t get hard scooped ice cream from anywhere else!”

FRÍO Gelato Evanston

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Because I have had reactions at other places in the past, I am always very hesitant about getting hand scooped ice cream… But Frío Gelato has made it possible because they are 100% dedicated free from peanuts and tree nuts! There is something so special about walking in to their store and being able to safely pick ANY flavor, topping, or cone. So excited to host the Spokin event here in June!”
