Tess’ Favorite Tree Nut and Sesame-Free South Carolina Spots

Hi! I’m Tess Ferm and I’m so excited to show off some of my favorite spots in my hometown of Charleston, South Carolina! As someone living with tree nut and sesame allergies, finding safe places to eat has always been important to me. Food allergy advocacy is a huge part of who I am and my platform, and I love helping others feel more confident dining out with allergies. One of my favorite places to eat is Three Little Birds Cafe where I got a Greek salad! Throughout this guide, I’m sharing some of my go to restaurants, favorite allergy friendly finds, and places where I’ve had positive experiences communicating with staff about food allergies. The DIME

The DIME

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

“They have dairy-free and gluten-free options. More of a breakfast/brunch place! I order an iced chai with oat milk every time! The Dime is also located right by the Wando River, so you can take a walk down a beautiful path for some scenery—or sit outside overlooking the water on a swinging bench. LOVE this place!”

“There are so many options but I get the same thing every time. The Greek salad is sooo bomb and it’s always a consistently yummy choice. They have lots of sides and vegetables as well. Overall, the staff is super sweet and accommodating of food allergies if you let them know. 10/10!”

Nautical Bowls

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

“I had the Sunrise bowl! This place was pretty great. They’re dedicated dairy-free and soy-free. If you have a peanut allergy, I would be a little wary, but the staff were really sweet. Would recommend to anyone with a dairy or soy allergy!”
