“Our children have attended LWC/GC for years and the care and attention they provide for children with food allergies is second to none. First, it is a peanut/tree nut free camp. Their staff is well trained and extremely sensitive to the needs of children with food allergies. There is a chef dedicated specifically to special diets. When there are activities out of camp, the staff worked with us and our child to plan for safe meal options, whether it was brought from camp or in a restaurant. All the staff are trained in the use of auto-injectors and the professional nursing staff is outstanding. Everyone is very attentive and responsive to our concerns. In short, we always felt secure that our child was safe and well-cared for while at LWC/GWC. It is the most special place for our kids.”

2. Camp Blue Spruce

”We LOVE Camp Blue Spruce!!! My 12-year-old son just left CBS after his very first time there and I can’t say enough good things about it. The staff was amazing, he LOVED the food, LOVED being able to eat anything and everything without having to ask if the foods were safe or read any ingredient labels, he didn’t have to carry an epipen it was a week of freedom like he’s never had before. On top of all that, he made lots of new friends and met a bunch of great kids (and adults) who are just like him and struggle with multiple food allergies daily. He was so sad to leave and can’t wait to go back next year! I was so relieved to have trained nurses onsite and to know that every staff member carried epipens. Whole-heartedly recommend for kids with multiple food allergies who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to experience summer camp!”

3. Camp Wingate*Kirkland

“Camp W*K is amazing!! I never dreamed I could trust an overnight camp with my daughter’s allergies. They are on top of it all! The counselors, health staff, directors, and chef are all so educated in preventing allergic reactions. All the food is 100% safe for my daughter to eat/enjoy. She got to spend two weeks worry-free, just being a kid. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating. They are an amazing group of individuals working to provide an inclusive environment for all kids! ”

“Absolutely fantastic experience at this well-run and super fun camp. You couldn’t ask for a better, more loving place to send your kids to camp. Camp director, Sue Lein, gets food allergies. She’s kind, attentive, inclusive, and just all around fantastic. This is a family-owned and run camp. Every counselor is trained in the seriousness of food allergies. They have full-time nurses on staff. They have a dedicated allergy section in the kitchen and a special window for serving. They go above and beyond to make kids safe, but more importantly, they make kids with allergies feel COMPLETELY NORMAL and INCLUDED! Camp Emerson rocks!”

“Sending a child with severe, life-threatening allergies to an overnight camp for even one day, let alone eight weeks, can be a super scary experience. However, Ojibwa made it a no-brainer for me to send my son there. They not only take peanut and tree nut allergies very seriously, and have an excellent trained staff of doctors, nurses, and counselors, but they also provide an entirely nut-free menu that any parent can have access to. Aside from my son living and breathing red and white (#purebwa), as a parent, I am very comforted by the fact that Ojibwa cares about my son’s health in the same way I do.
