New Buffalo

Bentwood Tavern
“Uses soybean oil and no apparent peanuts on the menu. Great food and great views!”

Oink’s Dutch Treat
“Despite normally avoiding hard-scooped ice cream shops, all the positive Spokin reviews encouraged me to try Oink’s in New Buffalo. The staff kindly offered to change their gloves, grab a new scooper, and open a fresh tub of Cookie Dough ice cream from the back! This sweet treat was the cherry on top of our lakeside weekend getaway.”

The Stray Dog Bar & Grill
“I was blown away with the allergy consciousness at The Stray Dog! When I informed our waitress about my allergy, the manager was immediately sent to our table to discuss our options. He confidently explained their allergy protocols and offered substitutions for unsafe menu items. I felt so safe and taken care of here that we bought a Stray Dog t-shirt on the way out. We’ll be back!”

Terrace Room
“A lovely lakefront stop in New Buffalo. Kind and knowledgeable staff with truly incredible food. Plus, no peanut oil!”

David’s Delicatessen & Coffee
“Because David’s has peanut butter as a spread option for their bagels, I skipped ordering food here. But I enjoyed a yummy iced vanilla latte! Especially since the Starbucks down the street is a limited menu only.”

Barney’s
“Barney’s in New Buffalo carries a surprising number of allergy friendly brands for a small town grocer! It’s also the perfect spot to pick up firewood for your evening bonfires.”
Saugatuck

Charlie’s ‘Round the Corner Ice Cream
“Offers soft-served ice cream! And the friendly staff was willing to wash their hands before making my twist.”

The BARge
“No peanut oil, and minimal nuts on the menu! Such a cute spot on the river for dinner and drinks.”

The Grilled Cheese Shack
“The staff (likely high school students) was not sure what oil was used for the tater tots, but they were happy to read the label for the kettle chips to check for peanut oil. They carry prepackaged chips (not made in-house) and they were safe for me. I had triple cheese grilled cheese sandwich, and it was fantastic! This is a such a fun little casual outdoor spot.”

The Butler
“We didn’t order any food here, but The Butler was a beautiful spot for a drink!”

Uncommon Coffee Roasters
“Although some of their menu items contained peanuts, I was able to safely order an iced coffee here! Like much of Saugatuk, Uncommon Coffee Roasters is also a very LGBTQ+ friendly cafe.”
