Cancun Allergy-Friendly Travel Itinerary

1200x8004

Hi! I’m Melissa from @foodallergyinspiration. We have four kids, two with food allergies. My one daughter is allergic to pistachios and cashews and my youngest daughter is allergic to dairy, beef, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, coconut, sunflower, pea, peaches, and avocados. We love to eat out and travel. We recently went to Cancun and wanted to share some of our fun stops with you! You can find my reviews on the Spokin app under @allergyinspo.

DAY 1

Travel: United Airlines

They hand out pretzels made in a peanut-free facility. My little had 8 bags!

Lunch: Isla Contoy

This restaurant is wonderful! Located between the pool and the beach, it is an open air restaurant so you can’t have a bad seat. Everything has a great view, food is fresh, and menus are clearly labeled. We ate here five times—breakfast twice, lunch, and then dinner twice. Never an issue, very consistent and delicious.

Hotel: Grand Fiesta Americana

They were so helpful, every restaurant knew about allergies, and could make anything you needed! Our last night, the chef made a special vegan dessert just for our little one. Would go here again!

DAY 2

Treat: Aldo’s Gelato

This was a hidden gem in Playa Del Carmen! The sorbet is kept separate from the dairy flavors and they will get a clean scoop and sorbet from the back if requested. Super delicious and clean!!

DAY 3

Venue: XPlor

They were very helpful when we explained our daughter had allergies. They helped us navigate the buffet to find safe food options for her.

DAY 4

Lunch: Hacienda Selva Maya

They checked ingredients, prepared food separately and helped us find safe lunch options when we were there. Having a translation card or native speaker is helpful here since there is a language barrier.
