Basai

The Salt Cafe

Location: Basai, India

“This restaurant was close to the Taj Mahal and I went here after a long day of walking around! The vibe was fun, the bathrooms were clean, and the food was delicious! There was so much naturally gluten free, but the waiters were a bit confused about the term and I did have to go find a chef who spoke english to be confident eating. The tandoori chicken is amazing and so was the daal. Easy place to go to after the Taj Mahal!”

Bengaluru

Nandini Parlour

Location: Bengaluru, India

“We have always found it difficult to buy Indian style sweets/desserts that may be safe for our daughter with allergies since most confectioners stores do not have allergens marked reliably. Nandini Milk Parlor has many packaged milk sweets with clear ingredient list and the manufactured date, so we felt safe giving them to our daughter. Our daughter enjoyed the Pedas, Mysore pak, orange chocolate bar, black current milk chocolate bar etc.”

BHARTIYA JALPAN

Location: Bengaluru, India
“We visited Bangalore for 10 days with our daughter who has food allergies(eggs, nuts peanuts and sesame). We were very cautious about eating out in Bangalore. However we had a great experience at Bharatiya Jalpan. We called them to check on the allergens before ordering online. They willingly checked with the kitchen staff about the dishes we had picked and confirmed the allergen details. Our daughter enjoyed the Chole Bhature and Jalebi. We were extremely happy with this new find.”

The Pizza Bakery

Location: Bengaluru, India
“Our daughter is allergic to eggs, tree nuts and peanuts. Before ordering online we called the restaurant to check on the allergens in the margarita pizza and Mac n Cheese. They confirmed both options were safe. Our daughter really enjoyed the food. We ordered twice from here during our stay in Bangalore.”

Hyderabad

Monastery

Location: Hyderabad, India
“We enjoyed dinner outside on a patio here one night. They had a very large and varied menu (in English). We carried an allergy translation card but did not need it here. When we asked our waiter about allergens, the manager came and spoke with us (in English) while we were ordering and let the kitchen know. Would recommend!”

Jaipur

Jal Mahal

Location: Jaipur, India

“Very nice restaurant in Jaipur India! The server was very helpful and they have many vegan and vegetarian options, which although I’m not vegan or veg, I find it helpful that they understand dietary restrictions! I didn’t have to worry about dairy at least! Very yummy food. On the pricey side and this was by far the most expensive place I went to in India, but it was worth it! (Indian food is my favorite!) I recommend learning about some Indian dishes before you go, just so you’re familiar with the terms.”

ITC Maratha, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Mumbai

Location: Mumbai, India
“We went for the Sunday Brunch. They have labels for foods than contain nuts. There is a live station that can make pasta and burgers on request. They made my kids meat skewers that were grilled and with less spice from the ones served for the buffet. Staff was extra careful and was even happy to prepare meals separately from the buffet and bring it to the table.”

Khyber

“Excellent Indian food. Our server was very helpful and made appetizers from scratch to ensure they were peanut and nut free. We ordered the chicken tikka, hara bara kabab, potato and tomato curry with Jeera rice and butter naan for my son. He was also able to eat malai kulfi for dessert which was delicious and nut free! We also tried other Indian food that had nuts for other family members but the restaurant was very accommodating! Will definitely visit again!”

Yauatcha Mumbai

Location: Mumbai, India
“Helpful staff and menu! Peanut butter is used in the non vegetarian dim sums but the vegetarian ones do not contain any peanut. Server was very knowledgeable about it. We ordered the truffle edamame dumpling, vegetable crystal dumpling and shiitake mushroom dumpling. We also got the sweet corn chicken and sweet corn vegetable soup. For main course there are dishes that contain nuts but the servers made us aware of which ones to avoid. We ordered Szechuan Mabo tofu, braised chicken, chicken fried rice and stir fry ramen noodle for entrees.”

Indian Accent

Location: New Delhi, India

“Some of the best Indian food I have ever had! They put a modern twist on traditional dishes/ingredients and are very clear about all allergens. I did the vegetarian tasting menu and they were able to make it completely egg and gluten free. They had gluten-free naan and allergy friendly alternatives for every component. Highly recommend! Definitely deserving of their rating as best restaurant in New Delhi.”

House of Ming

Location: New Delhi, India
“The menu is fully marked for the top 14 allergens. There is at least one option to choose from in each section. The ginger chicken was gluten free and it was not my favorite, but everyone at my table loved it so I think that is just personal preference. What I adored was the gluten free pumpkin soup! It is divine and a MUST. The waiters are helpful with allergies and contamination so even though the allergens are listed still be sure to mention!”

Hotels

Avasa

Location: Hyderabad, India
“We emailed with the manager and head chef ahead of time who were very informative. Allergens were labeled on cards in the primary dinning room. At the other restaurants within the hotel, there were staff available who were knowledgeable regarding allergies. We traveled with an allergen card but most staff spoke English. There was a refrigerator in the room as well for a few snacks we brought with us.”

Hyatt Regency Jaipur Mansarovar

Location: Jaipur, India
“GORGEOUS hotel that makes you feel as though you are in a palace! There is complimentary breakfast with delicious made-to-order options that they make gluten free! They had rice pudding, uttapam, and idli that they made gluten-free. The waiters were kind, but did not speak too much English so I did need to verify with managers as their menus were not always marked.”

The Leela Kovalam, a Raviz Hotel

Location: Kovalam, India
“We stayed at the Leela Kovalam hotel for 5 days during our Kerala vacation. The overall experience was great! Every staff be it from the restaurant or spa or the travel desk was very cordial and attentive.
We let them know about our daughter’s food allergies at the time of booking. One of the waitstaff from the restaurant and a kitchen staff met with us at the time of our check in. We discussed her specific allergies (eggs, nuts, peanuts, sesame) and they assured us they would make all accommodations to ensure her meals were safe.
At every meal at the restaurant, the staff would always help double-check the allergens in the dishes we picked by checking with the chef. They also offered to custom make any of the dishes we wanted to avoid any chance of cross-contamination, etc.
Over the 5 days our daughter enjoyed a variety of Indian dishes such as Dosa, Paratha, Poori, Aapam, Palak Paneer, Naan etc. She also enjoyed the Pizzas and fresh batch of Pasta and Noodles that the chef specially cooked for her to ensure these dishes are completely safe for her.
We were also very happy to learn all their ice creams were egg-free. Our daughter really liked the chocolate and mango ice cream here.”

The Leela Palace New Delhi

Location: New Delhi, India
“This hotel was a beautiful, quiet oasis in a hectic place. The staff was amazingly friendly, the rooms were beautiful and immaculate, and the food was delicious and clearly labeled. Easily the best run hotel I’ve ever stayed in anywhere! It was so hard to talk about food allergies while in India but the Leela Palace staff were understanding and accommodating. If you’re going to new dehli you have to stay here!”
