While our nation's capital is well-known for the Lincoln Memorial and the White House, it’s also one of the hottest restaurant scenes in the country. As a top rated city by Spokin users in our app, Washington, D.C. has us wishing we were back in eighth grade!

1. Clyde’s of Georgetown

“I ate here with my severely nut-allergic daughter. The manager was very helpful, and the staff was very well trained and did a great job keeping track of her allergens. They made sure the chef handled our order personally even on a very busy night and communicated thoroughly. Even though there were plenty of nuts and shellfish on the menu, they served a delicious, safe meal and made us feel comfortable.”

2. &Pizza

“The first question I asked was to see if they had anything containing peanuts, and the staff was very knowledgeable and explained to me that they do not use peanuts. I felt comfortable eating the delicious pizza.”

3. Jaleo

“This is a tapas spot, and it was so good! There were no peanuts (we heard there was no sesame either). There were a few dishes with nuts like the salads. We ordered an item that said it did not have nuts on the menu, and the waiter let us know it had nuts, which was great. We also had tomato bread, mushroom risotto, hanger steak, fried eggplant and ham and cheese panini. It’s a very fun place!”

4. Carmine’s Italian Restaurant

“We went during a non busy time to ensure we got the attention from the management team that we needed. The restaurant had a special menu for allergies. The manager was very knowledgable and went back to the kitchen to confirm with the chef that it was safe. We had a tasty meal that we all enjoyed. The food is served family style so we all ate the same thing. ”

8. Daikaya - Ramen(1F) Iskaya(2F)

"This place was AMAZING! They are upstairs (they have a ramen shop on the first floor). They brought an allergen menu that listed peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, dairy, etc. and listed the dishes that contained the allergens. Our server then crossed off what wasn’t safe for my daughter and shared that one of the chefs had a peanut allergy. The food was delicious and is one of the best allergy experiences we have had!"

14. Founding Farmers King of Prussia

"I informed the waiter that I am allergic to nuts, and he brought the manager over who said he would personally let the chef know. They took it very seriously! Founding Farmers is a scratch kitchen, meaning everything is made on site in the restaurant’s kitchen. This way, they can make any changes and accommodate their customers better."

2. Sticky Fingers Sweets + Eats

"I have to be careful of nuts here, but the staff is always educated, products that contain nuts are often labeled, and since it’s vegan, you don’t need to worry about dairy and eggs. They have a great assortment of products (including the first vegan doughnuts my son ever had) and everything is of excellent quality. I have ordered birthday cakes for my son from here, and party guests can’t even tell it’s vegan cake."

1. Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel

“Our room was very clean (of course I wiped surfaces anyway), and the kitchen had a full refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and stove top, making it easy to prepare meals for our extended stay. This hotel was also conveniently located about 1 mile away from both a Target and a Giant grocery store, allowing us to buy groceries we were unable to pack for a plane ride across the country.”

2. Normandy Hotel

“This is an awesome boutique hotel with great staff who were always willing to recommend restaurants and things to do nearby. It’s in a safe neighborhood near many embassies and has easy access to clinics/hospitals nearby. I can’t wait to stay here again!“

3. Mandarin Oriental

The Mandarin was amazing and took pride in preparing safe, delicious and beautiful food. We have multiple servere food allergies, and the chef came out to sit with us and made a special meal for our allergy kiddo. Not only was it fantastic, but the chef called the pastry chef on the weekend to confirm that the vegan chocolate cake was nut-free. It was nut-free, which was a WONDERFUL surprise. Mandarin really impressed our kids, and made our allergy kiddo feel well cared for.”
