Kortney's positive take on food allergies is as inspiring as the international destinations she hits on the regular. In the true Spokin spirit, Kortney thinks food should be fun and never lets allergies stop her from making life one big adventure. 


Which allergens are you managing?

I am anaphylactic to sesame and peanuts and am allergic to tree nuts, soy, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, banana, kiwi, strawberry, and lobster. I also have OAS, which means I can't eat several fruits and veggies raw but can eat them cooked.

What 3 things do you always have in your pantry?

My pantry is always stocked with a can of either lentils, white beans, or chickpeas β€” also passata and rolled oats.

Grocery shopping: online or in-store?

I mostly shop at the grocery store β€” I actually love grocery shopping! Our grocery store trials products, so there is always something new to discover. The one item I always buy online though is Sun-Maid raisins because I have yet to find any that don't contain sunflower oil in Germany.

Salty or sweet?

Salty β€” because I love cheese!

Cook or baker?

Cook β€” there are so many flavors to play with when you cook, and there are no rules!

Tell us something about you that isn’t in your bio.

Something about me that isn't food allergy or travel-related would have to be that I'm pretty active. I love to hike, jog, and boulder (only inside though, I'm still a beginner).

I like to follow @allergytravels because it's full of great travel advice and shares positive traveller stories. It's so inspiring to see what other people with food allergies are up to!
