Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli Gardens

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

“When I went to Tivoli Gardens, I was able to have fish and chips! The staff member had a detailed book with allergens and ingredients and even showed me the package of the oil they fried in. I went to the stand when there was no line and it wasn’t a super busy lunch time, which made it really easy to have a conversation! I was impressed! ”

Scandic Kødbyen

Scandic Kødbyen

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

“This hotel is close to a grocery store, has very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and there is a restaurant called Mor that is safe for dinner (and plenty of other restaurants nearby). The only two issues was that there was nothing safe to eat in the breakfast buffet (which wasn’t very appealing and was super crowded) and the hotel was in the meat packing district next to a night club. DO NOT stay here on a Friday or Saturday night unless you want to stay up until 4am. Otherwise, it would have been fine! We were in and out so quickly, but couldn’t sleep. ”

“Understand risks of allergies— their buns come from a facility which also uses nuts, so they can make a lettuce wrap for the burger instead. Their fries are gluten free because they only make fries in their fryer, oil used is rapeseed. ”

“A bit further from downtown but really cute and yummy. You fill out a piece of paper to select breakfast options from different categories and they have an allergen legend on there. I also let them know when I ordered to confirm and they were sweet and brought me a nut-free topping for my yogurt since I couldn’t have the granola. There were a ton of pastries that looked good, too”

Selva

“Cool Brazilian tapioca cafe in Nørrebro neighborhood! All of their tapiocas are GF and come with a side salad. The salads are already prepared and the host walked me through which ones would be safe for me to eat! There was a bit of a language barrier in English, so would recommend bringing a Danish (or Portuguese) allergy translation card. Overall, I really appreciated how attentive they were to my questions and allergies, and had a delicious meal! Menu is labeled with GF/DF/veg, would not recommend for dairy allergy as it is a small kitchen.”

“This is a big food hall in Copenhagen that has SO many options! I got a danish hot dog and the man was so nice and checked everything for me in a book he had of all allergens. When I said thanks for checking he said “that’s my job!” However I did ask the pizza stand about allergens and they were not as nice / didn’t inspire much confidence so think it’s very dependent on each restaurant there”

They had all ingredients posted on the display so you can see exactly what is in each item! Gluten free items are separate from items containing wheat, but I believe they are baked in the same bakery.”

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

“WOW. This place had amazing reviews online and I saw that they had gluten free bread so I went to find out what my options were. They had the most amazing fresh, gluten free bread that was just as big as the gluten-full bread. I got the tuna salad sandwich with capers and onions and the staff was able to tell me all of the ingredients in it to ensure it was okay to eat (gluten-free and dairy-free). I would absolutely make this a top spot on your list for a quick to-go lunch and I guarantee that you’ll be shocked at the quality and taste!!”

Meny

Meny

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

“MENY is one of the best places to find free-from foods in Copenhagen because they have an allergy-friendly section that has brands not found at other grocery stores. Unfortunately, they do not have any locations in the Indre By area, so it can be a trek to get to a location. They do have an allergen free section, and they carry some American products (cheerios, frosties, Rice Krispies). In the frozen food section, look out for Tilde’s, a GF, NF brand that makes excellent cinnamon rolls!”

Menu is peanut and hazelnut free, but would not recommend for someone with other treenut allergies (especially almond)!”

Gorm's

Gorm’s

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

“I went here as they are known to have good gluten-free pizza in Copenhagen, but what I got was one of the best gluten-free pizza’s I’ve ever had. They said that the gluten-free pizzas were prepared in a dedicated area, and they have vegan cheese if you’re dairy-free. They quality of the food was incredible and the pizza crust, in particular, was nice and thin. I went back a second time because it was so good and finding gluten-free options in Copenhagen can be tough. This pizza place is one of a few locations around Copenhagen— but this one in particular has an amazing view of the canal if eating outside. ”

Even though i’m not allergic to peanut butter, the woman working insisted she read the label on the peanut butter and it actually said may contain other nuts. She asked if I was anaphylactic and told me not to eat it. I was so impressed with her knowledge and happy that she thought to read the back of peanut butter, because in the US none say may contain tree nuts. Amazing staff amazing food!!! ”
