Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania
Allergies: Tree Nuts and Milk
Dining Hall: Class of 1920 Commons and Hill Dining Hall are my favorites, but all are equally accommodating.
Major: Double concentration in Finance and Statistics with minors in Computer Science and Mathematics
Post Graduation Plans: Still too early to say for sure, but I'm interested in working in finance and hopefully investment management!
✔️️ Establish a food routine. After you get a pulse on which safe locations and products are your favorites, be proactive in planning when and where you are going to eat. It's good to have variety, but consistency and planning eases the allergy burden significantly!
✔️️ Be proactive with your roommate(s). Having an allergy adds a new dimension to living in close quarters with somebody else. Have a heart-to-heart with your new roommate(s) as early as possible. Discuss the importance of your allergy and make a plan for how you're going to handle having food in the room. You need a place where you can relax and sleep without having to worry about an exposure.
✔️️ Don't be afraid to speak up. At Penn, we're lucky to have a team of chefs, nutritionists, house deans and RAs that care for you. If you're ever unsure about a meal or food at an event, talk with the staff. Advocate for yourself, and use Penn as a resource to help you do so.
