“Kama serves amazing Indian food in downtown La Grange! They said stay away from desserts and 2 of the dishes (I don’t remember the names) when I asked about nuts but everything else is ok! All the sauces are made to order so there’s never any food sitting around in the kitchen and they always use fresh pots and pans! It seemed like they took allergies seriously.”

Kentucky

Shalimar Indian Restaurant

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

“They have plenty of options since a lot of Indian food is naturally gluten-free. The waiter told me that the only dishes made with wheat are those made with spinach or naan bread. Just to be on the safe side, I avoided anything else that seemed like it might contain wheat, such as anything battered and fried. I tend to be a little paranoid because there’s been times (at other restaurants) where the staff say something is gluten free, but then double check for me and find out it’s not. I ended up having the tikka masala and didn’t get sick.”
@ty.lester who manages celiac and peanut, fruit, and vegetable allergies

New Jersey

Nirvana Indian Kitchen

Location: Allendale, New Jersey

“I love love Indian food and feel safe eating here! The owner is often on the floor and when you tell them you have an allergy he is usually the one to take the order! Because there is a vegan section on the menu I tend to order off of that because it doesn’t have dairy normally and they don’t have to make changes to the traditional dish! Food takes a while but because they make the dishes fresh and allergy safe for me! Favorite dishes include masala dosa and chana masala!”

“DELICIOUS indian food with a lot of gluten free options! I got tandoori chicken and they happily replaced the side of naan with a side of rice. A lot of the menu is marked and a lot of options are naturally gluten-free. The chilly paneer appetizer is a must try! Hefty portions that are easy to turn into 2 meals.”

Gully Boyz

Location: Nashville, Tennessee

“This restaurant was fantastic, as it is very hard to find Indian or Pakistani food that is gluten free and nut free, not to mention this food was incredible! It works like a chipotle, with you being able to customize your bowl or kathi roll. You have to check this out!”

India

The Salt Cafe

Location: Basai, India

“This restaurant was close to the Taj Mahal and I went here after a long day of walking around! The vibe was fun, the bathrooms were clean, and the food was delicious! There was so much naturally gluten free, but the waiters were a bit confused about the term and I did have to go find a chef who spoke english to be confident eating. The tandoori chicken is amazing and so was the daal. Easy place to go to after the Taj Mahal!”
@gluttenous who manages celiac and an egg allergy

Jal Mahal

Location: Jaipur, India

“Very nice restaurant in Jaipur India! The server was very helpful and they have many vegan and vegetarian options, which although I’m not vegan or veg, I find it helpful that they understand dietary restrictions! I didn’t have to worry about dairy at least! Very yummy food. On the pricey side and this was by far the most expensive place I went to in India, but it was worth it! (Indian food is my favorite!) I recommend learning about some Indian dishes before you go, just so you’re familiar with the terms.”

“Some of the best Indian food I have ever had! They put a modern twist on traditional dishes/ingredients and are very clear about all allergens. I did the vegetarian tasting menu and they were able to make it completely egg and gluten free. They had gluten-free naan and allergy friendly alternatives for every component. Highly recommend! Definitely deserving of their rating as best restaurant in New Delhi.”

Maldives

Alba

Location: Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives
“Alba is probably the best restaurant at the St. Regis Maldives. If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, you definitely need to take advantage of the complementary breakfast that’s included with your membership. Not only can you access the buffet, which included gluten-free bread and a few gluten-free pastries that are separately displayed and have their own dedicated spatulas, but they can also make you anything off of the menu a la carte!! One of the servers found out that I really like pancakes and had the chef make me a gluten-free pancakes, and then gluten-free waffles another day. Everyone is so nice. I recommend trying the Indian food for breakfast. So good! And the fruit selection is out of control. They also have tons of different kinds of fresh juices.

Alba is also a great spot for lunch and dinner. You can get any type of cuisine. They made sure to fry their french fries separately for me, and make sure that there was no risk of cross contamination with anything I ordered. I also again recommend their Indian food for dinner, I am Indian and it’s probably the best Indian food I have had!!”

Norway

Der Peppern Gror Rådhusplassen

Location: Sentrum, Norway
“This Indian restaurant did not disappoint, and is also rated #2 on Trip Advisor for Oslo! Definitely recommend a reservation.
Menus with allergen labels, no peanuts on in kitchen, only cashews and pistachios. We enjoyed the Missi Roti (chickpea flour), grilled Chicken Tikka, Palak Paneer, Daal Makhni, and Kulia Chaat. It was super easy to order with the clear labeling and we loved the food!”
@elise who manages celiac and peanut and hazelnut allergies

United Kingdom

Dishoom King’s Cross

Location: London, United Kingdom
“Everyone’s favorite Indian restaurant in London. There are several and they are all THE BEST. They have an allergy menu and it lists all allergens present in the dishes and those that “ may contain “. The “ may contain “ ( we were told) means it has an ingredient that is processed outside the restaurant ( ie the spices they use). We ordered many items none of which had nuts but they did use the spices. The waitstaff ( like most in London) were very educated on allergies. Even the bartender was well informed of any allergens present in their cocktails.”

Gujarati Rasoi – Borough Market

Location: London, United Kingdom
“This is a take away Indian place in borough market London. All made from home made recipes so they know exactly what’s in everything and use very little dairy. Very yummy! I had some kind of chickpea with greens and it was delightful!”
