How to Get AUVI-Q for $0
On February 14, the manufacturer of AUVI-Q, Kaléo, brought the beloved auto-injector back to the market. Equally exciting is their new AUVI-Q AffordAbility Program, an access plan to provide auto-injectors to patients at $0 cost. Here's what you need to know.
Step One: Get a Prescription
Your doctor can start prescribing AUVI-Q now. Have your doctor note "no substitutions allowed" or "brand name only" to guarantee you receive the AUVI-Q brand. Each AUVI-Q prescription comes with two auto-injectors and one trainer.
Step Two: Choose how you want to get AUVI-Q
There are two ways you can get your AUVI-Q prescription filled and the AUVI-Q AffordAbility supports both:
✔️️ Direct Delivery Service - Kaléo is offering a service that will ship your AUVI-Q prescription directly to your home or your doctor's office within 48 hours. Fill out the Enrollment Form and have your doctor sign and submit. Anyone with a prescription can use the direct delivery service. Kaléo recommends using direct delivery because it ensures receiving a non-generic AUVI-Q brand auto-injector with a guaranteed 12-month shelf life.
Spokin Tip: Make sure to provide an accurate phone number on your form as a representative will call within two hours of receiving the prescription to confirm your order.
✔️️ Pharmacy - Fill your prescription at a pharmacy.
Step Three: Find your best price
Kaléo has a first-of-its-kind access program to curb the high costs of epinephrine. Use the chart below to determine your out-of-pocket cost.
For commercially insured patients (ie. Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, etc.), the cost will be $0. This will cover up to 6 duo packs within a year's time.
For Uninsured patients with household income of less than $100,000: Kaléo has established the Kaléo Cares Patient Assistance Program to help patients in need. Those who qualify can receive up to 6 duo packs free. Go to their website to fill out the Kaleo Cares Patient Assistance Program Form. A prescription, proof of annual income and your doctor's signature will be required.
For patients who are uninsured and make more than $100,000 the cost will be $360.
For patients paying out-of-pocket, the cost will be $360 as well.
Spokin Tip: If the pharmacist inadvertently charges you, they may not be familiar with the AUVI-Q AffordAbility Plan. Have the pharmacist call 1-877-30-AUVIQ and AUVI-Q will ensure it costs you $0.
*For patients with government insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE), Kaléo is not legally able to help with copays - coverage varies state by state. Call your provider to check your coverage.
Step Four: Refill your prescription
Through the AffordAbility Plan, patients can get two duo packs of AUVI-Q (four auto-injectors total) every 30 days. The AffordAbility Plan will cover up to six duo packs (12 auto-injectors total) per year.
